Yeah, We're Jelly
Summary
Well if you have been paying even remote attention to the latest snowpocalypse occuring throughout the West you know it's epic. The Sierra's have received 5-9' in the past several days, and if we count the last week up to 15' at Mammoth. Intermountain region getting it too. This cycle has largely and perplexingly managed to avoid us here in AZ with storm track staying north. Regardless a little new snow at SB earlier in the week has made for some good fun. Now we have a 4 or 5 day period of light snow as this next storm slides south...go figure.
Short Term Forecast
The last storm in this latest hyper cycle will develop off central CA on Thursday and stream moisture well out ahead of it into AZ. Expecting light snow to develop late day. Storm will track down the coast into Friday with light snow showers continuing. Saturday storm continues south off of Ensanada then into mainland Mexico through the weekend. Southerly storms as this don't typically produce significant snowfall for northern AZ, though a little bit daily Thurs-Mon (inch or two daily) is what we can hope for. It appears Saturday may be the best shot at several inches of snow at the Bowl. This weekend as the storm moves through Mexico it may be more productive for the White Mts.
Extended Forecast
We remain in a weak trough into Monday with flurries lingering into the MLK holiday. A breather for CA and the West into midweek before another large cycle revs up. Here's the good(hopeful) news....models have been advertising this next round of storms won't leave AZ out. Big things could be around the bend beginning 1/19ish....Think Snow
