Colorado Daily Snow

Heads up, there may be fresher snow! Read the latest Colorado Daily Snow

Summer-like weather will continue this week, over the upcoming weekend, and into early next week. This isn't that exciting.

Things will likely become more interesting next Wednesday as a storm pushes across the upper mid west (Minnesota, etc). Cooler air will flow southward from Canada behind the storm, and this air will likely head into Colorado from the northeast.

Both the American GFS model and the European model are backing off their earlier predictions of a stronger push of cool air into Colorado. Previously, both models showed a good chance of rain for the eastern plains and snow levels dropping to 12,500ft for the eastern mountains. The latest runs show somewhat warmer temperatures and less rain.

Despite this model flip-flop (which is quite normal for 7-10 day forecasts!), I have decent confidence that the eastern foothills and plains will see cooler temperatures during the middle of next week along with a better chance of some rain. We're going to need some luck to eek out any snow on the peaks during this time, and we'll have to wait and see how things develop and if we get a stronger push of cooler air.

I'm taking a pre ski season vacation to Olympic National Park over the next few days and will have limited access to the www's, but I'll try to post an update when I can. I'll be back to Colorado Monday night, so expect another post then if not earlier.
