Heads up, there may be fresher snow! Read the latest Colorado Daily Snow

Springtime for now, snow returns late next week (I hope)

Summary:

  • Mostly sunny and warm Saturday through Wednesday
  • A few afternoon & evening showers possible Sat / Sun / Mon / Tue
  • Cooler weather later next week
  • Chance of snow Thu PM & Fri for northern mountains
  • Another storm possible around April 6-8th

Details:

The summary pretty much says it all. Most of the storminess during the next 5 days will stay to the north of Colorado, in the northern Rockies and Pacific Northwest. For us, we'll see mostly sunny weather with high temperatures in the 40s.

Now and again, limited moisture will combine with a bit of energy from the north and/or rising air generated by the heating of the day, and this will create afternoon and evening snow and rain showers. The best chance for these showers will be over northern Colorado on Saturday night, central and southern Colorado on Sunday afternoon, and all mountains on Monday and Tuesday afternoon. Most of these showers will be hit-or-miss, so I think the likelihood of accumulating snow during the next 5 days are very low.

Our next chance of seeing significantly colder weather and a decent amount of new snow will occur in the northern mountains on Thursday afternoon through Friday afternoon. My confidence is still low concerning the placement and amount of precipitation, though the odds of seeing colder air are very high.

Following this system, it appears that our next cool storm should roll through the state sometime between April 6-8th.

I'll get back to posting weather maps in another day or two, but for now, here is a bit of powder stoke to keep the dream alive.
