Nice weekend coming up

Summary

  • Most mountains dry on Friday and Saturday
  • Showers return on Sunday afternoon
  • Next week will offer standard afternoon showers
  • No significant shifts in the weather pattern for next 7-10 days

Details

Friday morning dawned with mostly clear skies across the state and just a few clouds over the north and a bit of fog in some valleys.

The rest of Friday should stay dry for most mountain areas with just a small chance of a late afternoon shower along and east of the continental divide, especially near and north of I-70.

On Saturday, once again most of the state should see a beautiful, dry day. The exception will be over the San Juan mountains where midday and afternoon storms will form.

There will be an increase in moisture on Sunday, so most mountains will see a midday or especially later afternoon rain shower or thunderstorm, and some of these showers could continue late into Sunday night.

The weather pattern will become rather stagnant next week with the chance of showers each day as a flow from the southwest brings in just enough moisture to prime the atmosphere to produce a bit of rain. The moisture might have daily ebbs and flows, so some days may be drier than others. But the overall message is that there will be no large changes in the weather next week, so we’ll need to wait at least another 7-10 days before seeing any chance of a strong autumn cold front.

Have a great weekend, and remember that Saturday looks like the best (driest) day of the weekend. Enjoy!
