Update on Monday afternoon

Here’s a quick update on Monday afternoon…

As I mentioned this morning, there were a few good ingredients that pointed to continued moderate snowfall for the central and northern mountains (cold temperatures, winds from the W and NW, additional storm energy moving in from the northwest).

However, the one factor that I was worried about was the moisture, and unfortunately the lack of moisture created mostly small flakes, which didn’t accumulate very much, perhaps just an inch or two. The webcams around Monarch make it look like more snow fell there, but I can’t verify that.

For Monday night, I do NOT think we’ll see big totals in the central and northern mountains, perhaps just another inch, maybe two. While Tuesday morning should offer soft turns with leftovers from Monday’s powder, I do not think Tuesday morning will be a legitimate powder day.

Next full update on Tuesday morning …
