Spinning storm dropping snow on Colorado

A slow-moving system is spinning over south-central Colorado on Monday. This storm is drawing moisture from the south and wrapping this moisture counter-clockwise into Colorado

The storm's lift converted this moisture into precipitation on Sunday night, and many central and eastern mountains had a fresh coat of white above 12,000 feet on Monday morning. The snowfall at the summit of Pikes Peak (14,114 feet) was impressive as of Monday midday:

Forecast for the rest of the week and Labor Day weekend

In short: no day will be completely dry.

Midday and afternoon showers will pop up each day, and temperatures will rise a few degrees by Friday.

For Labor Day weekend, expect more of the same with showers each afternoon. A storm to our north should push energy, moisture, showers, and higher wind speeds over Colorado at some point during the long weekend (likely closer to Sunday and Monday), so there’s a chance that one of those days may offer less comfortable conditions for hiking, biking, climbing, etc.

I’ll keep you posted!
