Colorado Daily Snow

Heads up, there may be fresher snow! Read the latest Colorado Daily Snow

As I wrote last night, the storm was slower than expected so there's still a good amount of snow coming this morning and midday. Locations south and west reported good totals this morning but location further east from about Vail eastward didn't see as much snow as I expected overnight because the storm was a little slower. However the good news is that the storm is far from over and snow should get heavier this morning and midday for many areas from Aspen through I-70. Winds are just now beginning to switch to the west and west-northwest and this is the prefered wind direction for the I-70 areas.

Elsewhere, generally 8-12 inches fell from last afternoon through this morning (as forecast), including 12" at Wolf Creek, 9" at Silverton, 10" at Durango, 8" at Crested Butte, 10" at Aspen Highlands, 8" at Powderhorn, 7" at Telluride, and 10" at Steamboat.

Expect another 3-6" this morning and midday for many areas as the storm is just now moving directly overhead and switching the wind to a more favorable direction for many mountains. See today's snow forecast here.

Here's an image of the storm as of 7am Tuesday morning, moving directly over Colorado.

Storm over Colorado

Snow will taper off this afternoon and tonight will turn out clear and VERY cold with lows well below zero. If you're heading out Thursday morning, dress warm and enjoy the postcard blue sky.

Thursday, Friday, and Saturday will be dry, but the next storm moving in from the Pacific will arrive by Sunday evening and should make it snow for almost the entire state between Sunday night and Tuesday morning. I'm not confident in the exact track of the storm, but everyone should see at least some snow on Christmas Eve day into Christmas morning.

Enjoy the pow:-)
