Update

Healthy reports are coming in on Saturday morning as the snow machine continued to crank through Friday evening. Breckenridge came out on top with 13 inches thanks to a very strong cell on Friday evening that delivered ~4 inches in 30 minutes!

Visit the I-70 Reports page below and don't forget to set powder alerts with a free or All-Access account via the OpenSnow Mobile App to get updates as soon as the reports are published.

I skied Vail on Friday morning and the conditions got better and better as the day went on. They did a surprise opening of Chair 5 in the Back Bowls and it skied very deep in some spots. More terrain opens today (Saturday), including Blue Sky Basin. Click HERE for more details.

For travel, heavy traffic is already underway on westbound I-70 on Saturday morning. The road surfaces will be a mix of icy and snow-packed conditions during the morning before becoming mostly clear and dry by Saturday afternoon. As always, give yourself plenty of extra travel time and stay tuned to CDOT for the latest updates.

Moving onto our weather, sunny skies will be the story on Saturday and Sunday, with daytime highs in the 20s and overnight lows in the teens. A weak system will then slide through northeastern Colorado on Monday and bring increased cloud cover and slightly cooler temps but only light snow for the eastern mountains.

After another break on Tuesday, we should receive a weak storm on Wednesday. Totals will be light but it will open the door for a much stronger storm by late next week. Friday and Saturday, January 19th and 20th, will feature a return to heavy snow and much colder temperatures so start planning now.

Looking further ahead, the storm door will be left wide open as head into the final 10 days of January. Even though we had a very slow start to the season, January is shaping up to be a good month.

Thanks for reading and have a great day!
