Colder Weekend Ahead...

Update

Warm Weather:

The weather is warm today (Wednesday) with highs in the 50's in the higher elevations and 60's at the base.  High pressure shifts East into Thursday with the weather staying warm.  Low pressure moving towards the coast will bring a better chance for thunderstorms developing over the mountains by Thursday afternoon.

Colder Weather:

Friday colder air starts moving in and the winds will pick up with ridge top gusts to 50+ mph.  Highs drop into the 40's on the upper mountain and 50's at the base.

The low pressure system moves across the area over the weekend with cold air and breezy winds continuing.  Highs only in the 40's.  We could see snow showers both Saturday and Sunday.  The latest forecast model runs show snow levels dropping to base level in heavier showers.  Expect to see some light snow showers on the mountain that could bring maybe up to an inch or two of snow this weekend.

Another cold system could drop in Monday into Tuesday keeping the colder air in place into early next week with more snow showers possible.

Long-Range:

The 2nd half of next week it looks like high pressure may build back in again with a warming trend into the weekend of May 5th-6th.  But the long-range model runs do show more trough possibly trying to push in as we go into May, so we will keep watching.
