UNCLE! UNCLE!

Update

Okay, enough already!

I have been receiving numerous emails asking not IF it's going to snow, but WHEN is it going to stop? Quite a change from 2 weeks ago.

Yes, the Mammoth locals are pretty much done with any additional snowfall, and the town is pretty much overwhelmed at the moment. That will change, as it always does.

Weather will begin to warm on Wednesday, with an incredible Tuesday ahead of us. Warming and mild to the end of the month.

Forecast

Temps are dropping fast and the snow will lighten up to the Platinum Powder we all love so much. The Platinum Powder will begin about 4:00 am Monday, and continue all day on Monday, with the storm breaking through the night on Monday.

Temps at 9,000 feet in the early morning will be about 4 degrees, and only warming to 15 degrees during the day. Expect between 12-24" through the 24 hour period, ending midnight Monday.

Tuesday we will see a positive improvement in the weather after 10am or so. Still very cold, with high temps in the teens, lows again in the single digits.

Tuesday will be the day to get deep, I mean really deep powder all day, with a semi clear day. The mountain may be able to "pop the top" by Tuesday, but they have a lot of work ahead of them. Especially avalanche control.

There is also a possible "shadow" event for Tuesday, as there are indications for an "inside slider" during the day, delivering even more extra dry powder. It is a long shot, but worth mentioning. So don't be too surprised if you are getting "free refills" on Tuesday.

Long Range

Warming and clear all the way through February 1, at least. High pressure will dominate for a while, which if I am hearing it right, is pretty much okay with everyone.

Have fun this week. It is going to be incredible.
