Sunshine prevails across New England today on Thanksgiving with many resorts taking advantage of temperatures in the 20s and 30s to expand their terrain with the snow guns. Mother nature turns up the thermostat into the upper 30s and 40s on Friday and Saturday under partly cloudy skies which should make for great (albeit limited) skiing and boarding. We're tracking a couple of clipper-type storms that will bring snow showers to New England on Saturday afternoon into Sunday and again on Monday. Each of these storms will be capable of bringing 0-1" of snow to lower elevations across mountain areas and 1-2" at the summit. The period from Saturday into Monday will come with an increase in wind gusts (20-40 mph; some resorts could have some limited upper-mountain operations if the chairs start swinging) and a drop back in temperatures into 10s and 20s at night and 20s and 30s during the day as we head into the work week -- perfect for maintaining (and artificially expanding) terrain. Both major weather modeling systems (the GFS and ECMWF) suggest a larger (wet) storm tracking up over New York toward the end of next week. Look for this storm to bring warmer weather to the region and a shot at some rain. More on this storm in Saturday and Monday's forecasts.
