Winter’s last gasp?

Update

It’s now the final week of March and many resorts are closed, but some lifts are still spinning, and we will see snow this week.

The next storm should bring snow from Monday night (March 26) through Wednesday morning (March 28th). This storm will be a slow-moving system that tracks directly over New Mexico, so with some luck, snow amounts could actually be a bit higher than what is shown in this forecast.

In general, expect 3-6+ inches with the best powder on Tuesday afternoon or Wednesday morning.

After this system, it looks like the main storm track will once again retreat to the north, where it has spent most of this winter. Ugh. Perhaps, we’ll get lucky and see one of these systems drop south toward New Mexico during the first week of April, but I am not optimistic that this will happen.
