Mid-week powder

Summary

A powerful storm on Tuesday should deliver two mid-week powder days. Get ‘em now, because after this storm, the weather looks sunny through the first 1-2 weeks of March.

Short Term Forecast

Snow showers will fall on Sunday through Monday, but we’ll be ahead of the next storm and accumulations should be light.

Then the brunt of the storm will sweep through central and northern New Mexico on Tuesday and Tuesday night with heavy snow. Accumulations should average 6-12 inches, though we could see up to 2 feet at areas that are favored by northwest flow on Tuesday night, like Taos.

The best powder days should be Tuesday, as it snows during most of the day, and Wednesday morning, when we will likely see the deepest snow on the ground as the sun comes out by midday.

Extended Forecast

Following these awesome midweek powder days, the storm track will retreat to the north during most of the first 10 days of March.

Longer-range models hint that the pattern will shift after the first 10 days of March, so there will be more powder to enjoy, but we’ll need to be patient.
