Better pattern coming up, starting around the 20th

Update

Our storm on Wednesday into Thursday delivered 2-8 inches to New Mexico. That’s not enough to build a deep base, but it’s a start, and it’s great to see the flakes return!

Looking ahead, we will be dry for most or all of the upcoming week, and then all models agree that a significant storm will move across the western US later next week (January 17-21).

Here is the snow forecast for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, January 19-21.

Once again, New Mexico is on the southern edge of the storm, but I think there will be at least some snow, and there is a chance that the storm will drop a bit further south.

Also, following this storm, the door will open for storms to move west-to-east across the western US, and this track should be more favorable for snow in New Mexico during the last week of January.
