Quality new snowfall - Fantastic Friday?
Summary
A low off the NW coast will direct rain and snow into the Cascades on Thursday. Initially, the snow level will be a bit high at 5,000 ft. That means a rain/snow mix on the medium and lower slopes, for the first part of the day on Thursday. It will be rather sloppy. By afternoon cooler air starts to move in and the snow level will drop to 3,500 ft by evening, as light snow continues. Snowfall for the day and overnight will be 4-8”.
Short Term Forecast
The skiing will be much better on Friday, because the snow level will drop to 1,000 ft with ample new snowfall overnight. That will produce great quality snow for skiing. Friday will be fantastic with 2-5” of additional snowfall during the day. Groomers and off piste will be really nice.
Extended Forecast
There will be a little more new snow (1-3”) early on Saturday with the snow level remaining low (1,000 ft). Snowfall will be tapering off by mid morning. As the day unfolds, expect to see more clearing with partial sunshine. Then partly to mostly sunny skies will prevail Sunday through Tuesday, as high pressure builds into the Pacific NW.
