Cascade Dump Continues

Problem Tuesday: Rain on Snow

The Open Snow Inside Story

A new weather system on Sunday will be moving through with more snow. Expect 5-10” in the Washington Cascades (SL 3000- 3500ft) from Sunday through Monday. Expect slightly, greater amounts at Whistler (SL 2500ft) less snow at Hood and Bachelor, but sill decent 4-9” ( SL 3500 - 4000ft). Watch for ski areas to announce partial openings by Thanksgiving weekend, but a problem is ahead….

A Look Ahead

After the great weekend snowfall, a warm front coming in on Tuesday, will produce rising snowlevels. The SL will rise to 6500ft. I hate when that happens. The rain on snow will consolidate the snowpack and melt some of the new pack – but not as much as most people think. Still, it won’t be pretty.

There is lots of uncertainty after that warm mess,  expect slightly cooler temperatures with rain and snow ( SL 4500-5500ft) in the Cascades, but some models showing partially dry weather on Wednesday.
