The Open Snow Inside Story

Saturated air continues over the NW with a little precipitation for the Cascades (<1”) and a snow level of 4500 ft for today. By Thursday, clouds will linger, but it will remain dry . Friday and Saturday will see partly sunny skies. Snowpack is getting very thin, especially lower slopes below 5000 ft. , so be forewarned.

Open Snow Look Ahead

Later Sunday and Monday a weak system comes in with a 4000-down to 3000ft snow level. At last some cold air! There will be new snow (1-5”). This system will not bring us back from the current sorry snow state, but will help a bit and cover some bare spots. After Monday, the models show a high moving in again for dry weather until the weekend of Feb 7. The Climate Prediction Center forecast is for a drier than normal February and March – which does not favor a significant snowfall comeback, like we’ve seen so many times in the last few years.
