Steamboat Daily Snow
By Joel Gratz, Founding Meteorologist Posted 8 years ago November 30, 2015
Here’s a quick update on Monday afternoon. I hoped that the weather pattern on Monday would be a great setup for Steamboat with winds from the west-northwest, cold temperatures, and some storm energy to lift the air and create snow. This setup did occur, but we lacked adequate moisture to really crank out the big flakes. Instead, we saw snow showers of smaller flakes all day which didn’t amount to a lot of snow. Unfortunately, I think this will be the case again on Monday night, so I lowered the forecast as it’s hard for me to think that we’ll see more than an inch of additional accumulation. It might happen, but it’s a long shot.
We have seen 13 inches of snow since Thanksgiving, so even though we likely won’t get big powder tonight, snow conditions are still excellent. I’ll be back with another update on Tuesday morning, looking ahead to the forecast for the weekend and next week.
