Cold front to bring new snow Friday-Sunday

Update

The U.S. Alpine Ski Championships are continuing in Sun Valley throughout this week, with the nation's top skiers competing.

Pull out your umbrella today, as a warm storm system from the South Pacific and California curls into Idaho, bringing rain and wind on Thursday. Snow levels are expected to range from 7,500-8,500 feet, making for soggy conditions. A cold front will advance across Central Idaho on Thursday night, bringing snow levels down to 4,000 feet, and substantial snowfall is expected Friday-Sunday.

Sun Valley is forecast to receive 3-7 inches of snow in Friday-Sunday. Temperatures will remain more winter-like through that period, with freezing temperatures at night and highs in the low 30s.

Extended outlook

Mostly sunny skies are expected next week for Spring Break. There may be some clouds here and there. Temperatures will remain cool, however, so the Hawaiian attire for spring skiing may be a bit chilly until later in the week. It should warm up a little bit more each day through the week. Don't forget the sun screen!
