Wandering Low...

Update

We have beautiful weather this weekend and into early next week.  Highs are in the 50's on the upper mountains and 60's at lake level.

There will be a cut-off low that will be off the coast by Wednesday.  Since these lows are cut off from the flow they can just stall out or slowly wander around as they move East.

The GFS has afternoon showers possibly developing Wednesday and Thursday as the low moves closer to the coast.  Then it has the low moving in next weekend with falling snow levels.  The 10 day precip map shows quite a bit of moisture possible as the low very slowly moves through.

The European model runs keep the low off the coast with a dry forecast for us over the next 10 days.  These lows are very hard to predict in their track.  So we will just have to keep an eye on the track all week.  If the GFS is right we could see some mountain snow next weekend.

We have 6 ski resorts open this weekend: Boreal, Heavenly, Bear Valley, Mt. Rose, Squaw & Alpine.  The first 3 I listed close for the season Sunday.  Mt. Rose and Alpine will be open 1 more week, and Squaw is shooting for Memorial Day weekend.

I will continue to be posting on any storms through May.

Stay tuned...BA
