Another Overnight Dusting...

Update

A weak system moved through overnight bringing more rain showers, and high elevation snow showers.  Looking at the webcams this morning it looks like the snow levels may have dipped down just below 9,000 feet, bringing another high elevation dusting.

Expecting cool temperatures and gusty northeast winds today.  It will feel like fall for sure.

We have a trough settling in over much of the Western U.S. for this week.  That will keep temperatures cool with highs in the 50's in the lower elevations and 40's up high.

trough

It still looks like most of the storm systems dropping into the trough will drop down to our east keeping us mainly dry all week.

The latest European model run tries to bring through some light rain and snow on Thursday.  We have seen several runs of the models hint at a system brushing us midweek, so we will keep an eye on that.  For the rest of the West, we may see the snow pile up this week...

By next weekend we may see some slightly warmer air as the trough moves east and a ridge builds over the West Coast.

The quiet weather pattern may last into the first half of the week of the 15th.  The long-range model runs continue to hint at a large area of low pressure setting up in the Gulf of Alaska by the 18th.  We will have to see if that will be strong enough to push the jet stream further south, and a stronger storm down into CA the 3rd week of October.

another trough

We had our first whitening of the peaks twice this week and the first couple storms of the season and the new water year.  We have the chance for one more dusting this week along with fall temperatures.  Let's see if we can get a bigger storm later in the month!

Stay tuned...BA
