Rainy Week Ahead...

Summary:

More wet weather ahead this week.

Not much change from the last post.  Areas of low pressure will be spinning off the coast pushing in precip this week, but none coming inland pushing in colder air.  So snow levels stay high all week above 8500-9000 feet.

Details:

Today will be nice with sun and highs near 60.  The winds pick up Monday with highs in the 50's and a chance for showers by Monday night.

The first push of precip is Monday night into Tuesday as a cold front weakens as it approaches.  The GFS is pretty dry and only brings light rain this far South, mostly up along the crest.  Snow levels around 8500-9000 feet.

Some other forecast models including the European push a little more rain South, West of the basin along the Sierra Crest.

A break on Wednesday into Thursday before an area of low pressure off the coast draws up moisture from the South by Friday.  This time we could see more rain in the Tahoe basin.  Snow levels are up around 10,000 feet  before maybe falling to 9000.  Here is the GFS total precip by Saturday.

This is not a lot of rain in this latest run with most staying to our South, but again the European model has heavier rain Friday.

Then a break next Saturday.

Long-Range:

The long-range has been inconsistent, but looks to remain active.  We could see some colder systems start to push in next Sunday with several systems into the following week.

There is still a chance we could see some snow on Halloween.

Stay tuned...BA
