One and Done...

Summary

Today, increasing clouds and winds as the next storm approaches. The snow moves in this evening and then lingers into Monday before tapering off. We could see 2-6 inches at lake level, and 2-9 inches on the mountains. Winds could gust to 60 mph today and 30 mph Monday on the mountain tops. Highs will only be in the 20's. Starting Tuesday high pressure builds in with a prolonged dry spell beginning. Temperatures start cold with highs in the 30's Tuesday and Wednesday, then warming into the 40's Thursday and through next weekend. There are no signs of any storms currently in the long-range.

Short Term Forecast

It is cold and today it will become quite windy with ridge top gusts to 60 mph.

Not much change in the storm for tonight.  The European model is about twice as wet as the GFS.  But either way it is a storm that does not have much moisture with it.  Here is the GFS total precip forecast.

forecast

High pressure builds in over the coast Tuesday bringing dry weather and a warming trend.

Next weekend a trough pushes South from the Gulf of Alaska.  Yesterday the European model tried to push the jet stream far enough South to bring a storm next Sunday.  This morning all the models keep the storms just to our North.  They bring rains to far Northern CA but high pressure keeps us dry.

Extended Forecast

It does look like the ridge will build in stronger after next weekend.  Then may weaken by the 12th.  Right now not seeing any storms of significance for the next 2 weeks.  We will keep watching to see if there is a pattern change that could bring in a storm.
