Thursday Update on Next Week...

Update

We are still enjoying sun and mild temperatures through tomorrow.

Over the weekend we will see some rain showers and temperatures about 10 degrees cooler with highs in the 40's on the mountains and 50's at lake level.  Snow levels will be running around or just above 8000 feet where we could see an inch of snow.

Monday night is when the first cold storm moves in next week.  Monday night into Tuesday there is decent agreement on the forecast models.  We should see snow levels start around 8000 feet and fall to lake level by Tuesday morning.  The heaviest snow may fall during the day Tuesday when we could see several inches at all elevations.

Here is a look at the storm moving in Tuesday.

Here is the initial total snowfall forecast through Tuesday night.

The discrepancy comes Tuesday night into Wednesday as the European and Canadian models keep the snowfall going, while the GFS moves the storm out more quickly.  Right now the GFS is the minority so we will lean towards the other models for now.

Here is the GFS total precip through Tuesday when it ends the storm by evening.

The difference if the European model is right, could be an additional foot of snow.  So we will keep watching the trend.

Then the next storm behind it looks like it could dig and stall off the coast next Thursday.  So there is now a gap in the snowfall forecast next week if you are looking at the 10 day forecast on the resort pages.  That may allow the storm to pick up more moisture before pushing in next Friday and into the weekend.  We will have to watch that storm as it could be a bigger snowfall producer.

Stay tuned...BA
