One More?...
Summary
Sunny with highs in the 40's and lighter winds today through Saturday. Sunday clouds may increase by afternoon and winds may pick up with gusts to 55+ mph by afternoon. Sunday night into Monday the next storm moves in. The first wave of precip looks lighter with maybe a few inches of snow above 7000 feet Sunday night into Monday. Snow levels may drop to around 7000 feet. Monday night a heavier push of moisture may move in. Snow levels may rise to 8000+ feet. Above the snow line we could see up to a foot of wet snow. Tuesday and Wednesday we should see another break with highs in the 40's. Then Wednesday night into Thursday a weaker but colder system could bring light amounts of snowfall. The weather should clear out next Friday. We may head into a drier pattern for a while. That doesn't rule out a storm near the end of the month.
Short Term Forecast
The storm that moves through the last 2 days dropped a decent amount of snow, even with accumulations to lake level. Many resorts picked up the forecast amounts. Some mountains like the higher mountains on the East side, and a few along the crest picked up more. A heavy band of snow yesterday evening sat along I-80 and brought enough snow for Boreal, and Sugar Bowl to break 2 feet!
We have another storm moving in Sunday night and another wave for Monday night. This system is weaker and warmer than the last storm. Sunday night into Monday looks like lighter precip amounts with snow levels around 7000 feet.
We may see some heavier precip move in Monday night, but latest model runs show warmer air and snow level possibly working up to 8000 feet. So the accumulations may be stuck above 8000 feet this time.
Here is the updated forecast.
We may see a weaker but colder system Wednesday night into Thursday after a break on Tuesday into Wednesday. It looks like maybe a few inches at best.
We should see another break next Friday.
Extended Forecast
The drier Spring weather pattern may settle in. The pattern remains active in the Eastern Pacific, but the jetstream is weaker and further North later in Spring. We could see a storm move in before the end of the month.
