Ending the season right
Update
It's closing weekend for Jackson Hole Mountain Resort and what could be a better way to end this magical season than 1-2 FEET through Sunday?
This strong closing weekend storm is beginning to make its presence on Friday afternoon with warm, southwesterly flow. The snow machine will begin to crank up to full pow(d)er on Friday night but snow levels will hover near 8,000 feet. This should keep Grand Targhee under all snow but Jackson Hole under a wet mix for the lower half of the mountain. As we've talked about all season, southwesterly flow favors Jackson Hole over Grand Targhee so I expect healthy reports through Saturday afternoon across Jackson's upper mountain. In total, look for 2-4 inches at Grand Targhee by Saturday morning and 4-8 inches at Jackson Hole.
Warm, southwesterly flow will then transition over to cool, westerly flow through Saturday night. This will drop snow levels down to the valley floors and also transition the snow quality from cream cheese to the soft, surfy snow than we all know and love.
We'll be looking at an additional 6-12 inches at both Jackson Hole and Grand Targhee through Sunday. This will bring our weekend totals to 8-16 inches at Grand Targhee and 10-20 inches at Jackson Hole. BRING. IT. ON.
Following the weekend, another round of light accumulations will be possible from Monday night through Wednesday. Looking even further ahead, additional storms will be in the works as we close out Grand Targhee's season.
Thanks for reading and have a great closing weekend!
