Upper Midwest Daily Snow

A bit more snow Saturday night, but not 'the storm'
Things were looking so good for the clipper set the move through the Upper Midwest on Saturday evening, until the ridge got stronger in the west and started to change everything.
For starters, it looks like this afternoon and tomorrow morning will be lovely times to ski with warmer weather, lighter winds, and clearing skies. So go skiing right now and enjoy it!
Right now it looks like the clipper that was set to move right through Minnesota and Wisconsin over the weekend may turn out to me more of a dud for skiers as the strengthening ridge over the western US and the Nor'easter on the other coast continue to effect our weather. For better or worse, it looks like western Minnesota and northern Iowa now have the best chances of seeing 3-6" of snow while the rest of the region settles for between 1-3" depending on how east the precipitation spreads from the low.
However, all is not lost in this pattern, with it looking to hold on for at least the next 3-5 days with another chance for a clipper on Sunday night and then on Tuesday. However, as with the clippers we saw over the past week, most of them will be fast moving, so anything over 1-2" will be hard to come by, but it helps.
Looking ahead to the long term, things look to attempt to get back to a zonal flow across the northern United States by the end of the week, ending the warmer weather and clipper train that we have had over the past week. Then again, the models were looking to do the same thing last week and we ended up for a whole extra week in this pattern, so not trusting that trend entirely. Regardless, with a few inches of free snow every other day and reasonable temperatures, not a half bad time to hit the slopes!
Have a good weekend!
