US and Canada Daily Snow

Transition
Summary
The western US will stay active through the 25th, and then the weather pattern will transition so that the cooler air moves to the east and northeast through early February.
Short Term Forecast
The changing weather pattern can best be summed up using the following charts, which show temperature and snowfall forecasts using the average of multiple models.
First, from January 20-25. The coldest air will be in the western US.
And the most snow will be in the same spot (California could receive 2-4 FEET)!
Then from January 25-30, the coolest air will start to move out of the western US and toward the eastern US.
And the snow will follow, with powder potential in New England and the Great Lakes.
Extended Forecast
And as we hit February, the transition will be complete as the western US warms up and the eastern US stays cool.
New England should see nearly continuous chances for light snow, and then western Canada may begin to see snow as well.
This pattern may change again between about February 5-10 as snow and cool air may return to the west.
