Season recap as the snow continues

Update

When you look at the 10-day snow forecast from April 7-17, you might think that I substituted a map from January.

Yes, the snow will continue through at least mid-April, with powder days galore from coast-to-coast. I wouldn’t say that powder days in April are unusual, but I am not used to seeing so much snow in the forecast during this time of year.

Looking over the western US, the snowpack as of April 6th is in great shape with most areas reporting average to above average snow. This isn’t just good for us skiers, but it’s great for everyone that lives and spends time in the west because the snow turns to water in the spring and summer and helps to fill our reservoirs and irrigation ditches.

Thanks so much for using OpenSnow this season, and stay tuned to “The Chase” (see link below) as Powderchaser Steve will keep pointing you to the goods until the goods are gone!
