Houston, we have liftoff...

The storm we've been waiting for is here.  Warm advection is currently (6:30am) is just starting to bring precipitation to the far northern Wasatch near the Idaho border.  This will slowly spread south through the morning hours but snow levels will be fairly high until the cold front arrives this afternoon.  We should see a period of intense snowfall this afternoon into this evening as the main front moves through.  Lots of moisture and instability so accumulations should pile up fast.  Snow should taper by Sunday morning, but accumulation will range from 8-14" with higher amounts possible in the Cottonwoods.

A lull in snowfall tomorrow, but scattered snow should continue in a cold northwest flow.  Another wave moves in late Sunday night into Monday morning.  An additional 4-8" is possible by Monday evening.  Storm totals should be in the 1-2 foot range.  The Cottonwoods could easily see more, especially if the GSL gets involved.

Long range: 

High pressure looks to take control into the Thanksgiving holiday.  Some weak troughs will try to break through the ridge next weekend, however models differ on how effective they'll be.
