Update

The weather for this weekend and for all of next week will be mostly sunny, dry, and high temperatures will be in the 30s with lows in the 20s. This should allow for snowmaking to continue, and I hope some additional terrain will open.

I have received a lot of questions about snowmaking and when more terrain will open. Large resorts in the western US, like Vail, have limited snowmaking and focus just on high-traffic areas and base areas. The mountains are just too big to economically run pipes to provide snowmaking to most of the mountain. So even though temperature are cold and snowmaking is ongoing, this won't lead to a lot of open terrain. To open a lot of terrain, we'll need natural snowfall.

The next chance for natural snow will arrive on or around December 17th, and then the rest of December does appear like it will bring a more active weather pattern, but it's a bit too soon to know if this active pattern will stay just to our north or if it will drop south and bring storms to Colorado. Stay tuned for daily updates!
