Winter Forecast — 2015/16 Season
Here is the snowfall trend during the past five seasons, as well as our predicted snowfall range for this season. Our prediction is based on our internal research relating ocean temperatures to long-range weather patterns.
Our method correctly predicted total winter snowfall for 53% of the past 36 years. We predicted more snow than actually fell on 25% of years, while we under predicted snowfall on 22% of years.
We have lower confidence in this forecast compared to all ski areas in the United States.
Seasonal Snowfall Totals
Use these graphics to track actual snowfall during the season. The data is generated by mountain weather stations near Rocky Mountain National Park and is not compiled from official resort measurements. We use weather stations because they update automatically and provide consistent measurements over many decades. NOTE: We are currently testing this data and it will be freely available through early December. After that time, it will only be viewable by all-access members.
Data is from 4 SNOTEL sites within 7mi of Rocky Mountain National Park at an average elevation of 9,870ft.
