A game of inches

We knew that northern Colorado would be favored by yesterday's (Saturday's) storm, but the line between winners and everyone else (if you're not first you're last!) was mighty tight. Along I-70, there was very little snow (just an inch or two at Copper, Loveland, Abasin). However, just north of I-70 there was 6 inches or more at Eldora, Winter Park, and on up to Steamboat. That's where the best moisture and storm energy was, and that storm energy lifts the moist air and helps to wring out the snow.

The map below shows the amount of liquid equivalent that fell on Saturday, with the Grand Mesa (west-central Colorado) and areas north of I-70 doing the best. Multiply the number by about 15 to get actual snowfall.
