Just stick a ruler in the snow
Satellites are cool.
Radar is cool.
Fancy weather stations are cool.

The image is from Crested Butte's web cam (at 930am Monday). In Colorado, Sunlight and Copper also have these cams. And perhaps the most "famous" one is at Snowbird, UT (with a time lapse feature, too!).
