Opensnow.com names second winter storm: Elvira

Since The Weather Channel is naming winter storms but feels no need to cater toward skiers (and instead wants to focus on snow that disrupts life and travel in big cities, which is understandable as that's their demographic), Opensnow.com will take it upon ourselves to name storms that make skiers and snowboarders happy. The first storm we named was Xena Warrior Princess. The second storm is ... Elvira!

Elvira the winter storm

Elvira should dump most of her snow on Monday night and Tuesday night in Tahoe, but will affect many western states from Saturday October 20th through Thursday October 25th. Here's her five-day snowfall forecast:

From all of us at Opensnow and also from snow lovers across the country, Welcome Elvira! If you like this concept, read more (and laugh) in our article about Xena Warrior Princess (the storm).
