There are some real "powder hounds" out there. I really don't love to use the phrase "powder hound" because it brings visions of a dog sniffing aimlessly through the backcountry rather than an motivated human looking to shred the gnar. If you have substitute phrases for "powder hound", leave them in the comments...

Anyway, my friend Brad is a powder hound. He'll drive to Wolf Creek on a moment's notice, and he'll also work extremely hard for 7 months of the year to ensure he has the flexibility in his schedule to chase powder during the other five months.

Part of his seasonal routine is to head north from Boulder and wind up at Great Canadian Heli-Skiing. He timed it perfectly this season, since Colorado wasn't getting much snow in early January, but the Canadian Rockies were in the opposite camp. Sometimes it seems like the snow is always whiter somewhere else. And sometimes, it's worth the chase...
