Winter Park Opening for the 2016-2017 Season on November 23rd

We just received word from Winter Park Resort that they will now open for the 2016-2017 ski and snowboard season on Wednesday, November 23.

Here's the latest update via this afternoon's press release:

Whether it’s the first day of the season, the 80th day, or the last day, Winter Park Resort is committed to providing the best possible conditions for all skiers and riders. With another successful week of snowmaking combined with an expected change in the weather pattern, Winter Park anticipates the Opening Day experience on November 23 to be consistent with the high expectations to which guests have become accustomed. If the snow-dances, trail maps in freezers, and other various superstitions should pay off with an abundance of snow in the interim, Winter Park will adjust its Opening Day accordingly.

When the resort opens, all resort Village restaurants and retail outlets will also be open (availability of on-mountain restaurants is subject to the opening of each establishment’s commensurate Territory).

Regardless of when lifts start turning, Winter Park is looking forward to another stellar season with the addition of the Winter Park Express train service from Denver Union Station, giving guests access to Winter Park’s 3,000 acres of skiable terrain without having to worry about traffic congestion on I-70.

The warm temperatures have made November’s shoulder-season still a great time to visit Winter Park and the Fraser Valley, with plenty of hiking, biking, fishing, and other outdoor activities still available to enjoy. Beginning Saturday, November 19, some assorted Winter Park resort restaurants and retail businesses will also be open for the season, providing dining and shopping options in the Village before the resort is officially open.
