Powder watch canceled for Colorado
Update
The powder watch for Colorado has been canceled as models shift most moisture north into Wyoming late this week into the weekend. Moisture will also be falling in Utah and areas of south-central Montana where it's possible that Big Sky (closed) gets a refresh of light or moderate snow at the summit.
The most bullish I can get is for the Wind River Range of Wyoming south of Jackson near Pinedale.
Significant snow is likely in this area at the peaks so if you're engaged in summer activities, be aware of changing conditions and cooler weather.
In Utah, a showery pattern will be in place Friday-Sunday with periodic snow above 9500 feet lowering to 7500 at times. Amounts don't look impressive in any 24 hour period but may exceed 4-6 inches at the summits by late Saturday. With any luck, Snowbird reports higher amounts by Sunday morning. The Uinta Range in eastern Utah will likely see higher amounts at the summits late Friday though Sunday.
While Colorado is off the watch list, there is still going to be isolated snow showers in the mountains and a mix of light rain at times for the Front Range. Most moisture has shifted north so if your mountain biking near Denver conditions may stay relatively dry. Further west towards Grand Junction and the desserts will be ideal this weekend.
Have a great summer and tune in next fall for details on the 2018-19 winter!
