QUICK UPDATE!  

UTAH got pounded today with generally 16-20 inches in the upper Cottonwoods (Brighton, Solitude, Alta, Snowbird) and a healthy 10-12 inches in Park City.  I believe the mountains north towards Snowbasin, Powder, and Beaver did well also (Excess of 12 inches).  Snow quality was pure blower! I was at the Bird that may have been my best day of the season (I say that a lot).  

The system from Utah is now currently over Colorado, Arizona and New Mexico.   Steamboat cameras as of 9:30PM show 4-7 inches and still snowing.  Snowmass is catching up.  Telluride is our wildcard since SW wind direction is not optimal but surprises might happen (Models show 6-10).  Thats a good guess! 

My chase advice is a line from Steamboat (If you are in the north) towards Aspen, Crested Butte (4 inches as of 9 PM), Silverton (Will be very deep) and to Wolf Creek (Will be very deep).  Taos cameras look like 2-4 inches and dumping.  Taos would be a serious contender.   Arizona Snowbowl will also be epic on Tuesday!  

Winds in Colorado shift to the West by 10AM Tuesday which should kick off heavier snow showers along I-70 (Summit County, Vail Pass, Beaver Creek). You should see 2-6 tonight and another 3-6 Tuesday in those areas (Conditions will improve through the day on Tuesday).   Crested Butte will be deeper tonight and may do very well with the wind shift on Tuesday (Likes Westerly flow). 

As we forecasted the Tetons are getting a consistent tease of snowfall (3-7 each 12 hours).  Todays reports were from Epic in the backcountry to real good at the resort.  Snow telemetry shows another 4-8 inches has fallen since the lifts closed today.  Snow will continue light at times tonight.  Tomorrow there should be another uptick of intensity for the Tetons (Additional 3-7). 

Northern Idaho is going to reap rewards tonight and Tuesday!  (Leftovers from the Cascades). 

Long range:  Significant snowfall likely for the Cascades and BC late this week and weekend.  My later posts will address the path of those storms most likely taking a northern route over the Rockies.
