Monday started with a bit of fresh snow from Sunday night and the weather was mostly cloudy through the day with highs in the teens.

Tuesday is starting with some clouds hanging over the mountain and the latest models show that these clouds could persist through at least midday if not through most of the day. This is a bit of a bummer as I thought that we’d see more sunshine, but we are on the southern edge of these clouds so maybe we'll get lucky and enjoy a mostly sunny day. Temperatures should top out in the 20s.

Wednesday will almost assuredly bring full sunshine with temperatures in the upper 20s to low 30s. We are about to go into a storm cycle with clouds and snow for many days, so enjoy this warm and sunny weather.

Looking ahead, I see three chances for snow during the next seven days.

The first storm will bring snow from Wednesday night through Friday. We should see a few inches on Wednesday night into Thursday morning, then more snow should fall from Thursday night through Friday. Of the two days, I like Friday as the day that could offer the softest and deepest powder, and I’ll stick with a storm total of 4-8 inches.

The second storm should bring snow from Saturday afternoon through Sunday. We should measure at least a few inches and Sunday will likely be the day that offers the softest snow.

The third storm will be the strongest of the three and bring snow from Monday night through Wednesday or Thursday. The best powder should be either Wednesday or Thursday and total accumulations should be significant.

After these three systems, we’ll likely see a break in the snow with very cold temperatures either Thursday or Friday of next week (January 16-17). Then another storm could bring snow the following weekend or into early the next week (January 18-20).
