Weekend Snow a Bit Deeper, Next Week's Storm Trending Up

Summary

The light snow this weekend looks a bit deeper, with up to 10-20 cms especially in the French Alps. The more significant potential snow maker next week is looking good, with another storm likely on its heels.

Short Term Forecast

Forecast for Saturday 3/18 - Monday 3/20

What look like just a coupe cms of snow a few days ago, is now looking like a decent refresh. Snow will be focused on the French Alps, with some in the Swiss Alps too. Snow starts Saturday night and continues through Monday morning in the Austrian Alps before wrapping up. The heaviest snow will fall Sunday afternoon through Monday morning, with around 10-20 cms total, as seen in the snow forecast from the European model below.

Forecast for Tuesday 3/21 - Saturday 3/25

After a few quiet days Tuesday and Wednesday, the models bring snow back to the Alps on Thursday. This looks like it could be another significant storm. Snow will be light/moderate on Thursday, before picking up Friday morning, and continuing through Saturday morning. Temperatures will be a bit wam for most of the storm, but a cold front Friday afternoon will bring some lower density snow at the end of the storm, before it winds down Saturday evening. The cold front should get to the French/Swiss Alps in time to make Saturday morning a good powder day. It's a bit early for snow totals, but take a look at the latest forecast from the European model below, though this will likely change a bit as we get closer.

Extended Forecast

Outlook for Sunday 3/26 - Thursday 3/30

Just a quick word about the end of the month. The models are showing another snow storm moving through the West around the 28th, which would keep chances for snow alive for about another week.
