Snow Forecast

A few light snow showers fell on Saturday, though accumulations were limited to a dusting to 1-2 inches. Saturday night and into Sunday morning has remained cold and dry.

We'll now be watching for three distinct periods of snow from midday Sunday through Tuesday.

The first round of light snow will arrive on Sunday afternoon and into the evening. Nothing special as the bulk of the action remains to our south.

The second round of snow will arrive around midday Monday and continue into Monday evening. This wave could feature a few heavier snow showers and the potential for 1-4 inches. Keep an eye on last chair Monday for soft turns.

The third and final round of snow will arrive on Tuesday and likely continue into Tuesday night. The third round of snow has me the most excited and we could pick up anywhere from 2-6 inches, with the best totals likely along and east of the divide. I would keep a close eye on Wednesday morning for fresh turns.

To recap, Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday will all feature fresh snow, with chances for deeper totals after each wave passes. Keep an eye on Monday afternoon and Wednesday morning for the best turns.

Travel Forecast

Mostly dry road surfaces will continue through midday Sunday. Wet, icy, and a few snowy road surfaces could pop up on Sunday afternoon and evening but outside of normal weekend traffic, travel should continue to cruise along at normal speeds.

For Sunday night through Tuesday, we'll be watching for icy and snowy road surfaces. The times to watch for potential travel impacts will be Monday afternoon and into Monday night and again from Tuesday afternoon through Tuesday night, especially near and east of the Eisenhower Tunnel.

Dry road surfaces and normal travel speeds will follow for Wednesday, Thursday, and into Friday.

Additional chances for snow will bring more wet, icy, and snow-packed road surfaces beginning Friday night and into next Saturday (1/30), and again around February 3rd.

Extended Forecast

Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday will be dry and mostly sunny. Temps will still be in the 20s on Wednesday, followed by a jump into the upper 20s to low 30s on Thursday and Friday.

The action will then ramp back up come Friday night and into Saturday. I'm keeping my expectations in check but confidence is growing for at least moderate snow totals and decent powder potential on Saturday and into Sunday. We'll continue to dial in the timing and potential snow amounts this week.

Looking further ahead, we'll likely catch another break early next week ahead of a decent looking storm track for Colorado beginning around February 3rd. Consecutive days of accumulating snowfall could be in-store.

Thanks for reading and stay tuned for daily updates!
