2016-2017 Season + OpenSummit

Update

Loveland will remain open through Sunday, May 7th and Arapahoe Basin through early June but it's now time to wrap up the I-70 Daily Snow until next fall.

The 2016-2017 Season

We started off slow with warm temperatures and little snow during October and early November. The snow machine then came alive in late-November and delivered a train of storms through December and January. Here's a look at one of our three Base Depth vs. Average graphs for Arapahoe Basin.

The deep snowpack that we built during December and January created a solid base that we enjoyed for the rest of the season. If I could pick one day that stood out, it would be Sunday, January 22nd at Vail.

This was one of those days that Joel Gratz (above) coined as "Max Fluff" or as most people like to call it, "blower pow". These don't happen often along I-70 but when they do, it's always special!
