Stormy Weather Through Saturday...

Update

**You should have chains if traveling over Sierra passes Wednesday through Saturday.**

Wednesday:

Wednesday snow levels are expected to lower down to 6,500 feet.  We could see light snow off and on through the day.  We could see chain controls from Soda Springs to Donner Lake, or maybe even down to Kingvale during heavier snow showers.  We could also see breaks in the showers with roads turning wet and chains controls being lifted.

Snowfall increases Wednesday night as the next storm moves in, with snow levels lowering to 6,000 feet.  We could see chain controls lower below Kinvale and east into Truckee.

Thursday:

The snowfall continues into Thursday evening before winding down sometime Thursday night.  We could see chain controls from Whitmore all the way to Northwest Reno by Thursday afternoon and evening.  Expect tough travel along I-80 through Thursday evening.

Friday:

Expecting a break on Friday but we could see snow move back in with the next storm by later Friday night.  This storm could have snow levels down to 3,000-4,000 feet.  So we could see chain controls setup all the way down at Crystal Springs east into Reno Friday night.

Saturday:

Saturday we should continue to see snowfall with chain controls from around Crystal Springs to Reno.  The snow is expected to taper off Saturday night, but chain controls could remain until Sunday morning with the snow packed roads.

Long-Range:

Expecting the weather pattern to become drier starting Sunday, but the next storm could move in by Tuesday.
