Snow & Chain Controls Possible This Weekend...

Update

Two cold systems will move through over the weekend bringing the possibility of snow for I-80 from Blue Canyon to Truckee.

Saturday:

The first front moves through Saturday afternoon with snow levels lowering from Donner Summit down to Blue Canyon. Only expecting 1-3 inches of snow, but it could be enough for some chain controls over Donner Summit Saturday evening.

Saturday Night:

Snow levels lower down to Truckee but the snow tapers off. We could see some black ice but not expecting much in the way of driving issues.

Sunday:

Sunday we are expecting scattered snow showers but with some sun as well. Not expecting much in the way of any travel issues until later in the day into Sunday night.

Sunday Night:

A second system moves through Sunday night. We could see some bands of heavier snow moves through overnight with snow down into Truckee. 2-4 inches of snow is possible over Donner Summit. Expect possible chain controls to set up along I-80 Sunday night.

Long-Range:

Monday we clear out and then we may be heading into a long-term dry pattern. Stay tuned for updates as we get closer to the winter season!
