Rain Thursday Night, Rain to Snow Saturday Night - Sunday...

Update

Drier Weather:

We are expecting drier weather through Thursday. A weak system Thursday night could bring rain showers over Donner Summit so no travel issues expected. Then drier weather again Friday - Saturday.

The Weekend Storm:

Another storm moves in Saturday evening into Sunday morning, with scattered snow showers possibly lingering into Sunday afternoon before clearing. The storm is expected to begin as rain over Donner Summit, but snow levels lower Saturday night with rain changing to snow after midnight over Donner Summit. Snow levels continue to lower into Sunday morning.

Chain controls will start just over the top of Donner Summit from around Soda Springs to Donner Lake earlier Saturday night but could drop to Blue Canyon to Truckee by Sunday morning. Expect winter driving conditions and possible delays on Sunday morning. Then the roads should start to clear during the afternoon.

Next Week:

Another weak system with a chance for more snow on Tuesday. We will continue to watch the trend, but be prepared for winter driving conditions if you plan to travel through the Sierra on Tuesday.

Expecting a drier pattern starting Wednesday and beyond...
