Snow on Thursday through the weekend in Idaho!

Summary

A subtropical storm system continues to deliver fresh snow at Schweitzer, Silver Mountain and Lookout Pass on Thursday and Friday and through the weekend. All three had fresh snow overnight, 3-7 inches respectively. A few inches are forecast to fall during the day on Thursday and Friday. Low temperatures are close to freezing through that period. Light snow fell overnight in Southern Idaho in most locations, while Pomerelle got 4 inches of new. Brundage Mountain and Tamarack are forecast to receive light snow on Thursday, 2-4 inches on Friday, and another burst on Sunday. Low temperatures will be in the 20s at night. Great weather for the beginning of the McCall Winter Carnival. Bogus Basin, Sun Valley, Magic Mountain and Pebble Creek are forecast to 2-4 inches on Friday and another dose on Sunday. Pomerelle may get 3-7 on Friday.

Short Term Forecast

While new snow is forecast statewide from Thursday through the weekend, the subtropical storm system swirling into Idaho from the Pacific is nudging high temperatures dangerously close to freezing or above freezing at night, which could bring a rain/snow mix in places. Keep an eye on temperatures and snow levels, which will be highly variable.

Extended Forecast

Continued unsettled weather patterns will prevail through the weekend and early next week statewide. There's a 40-70 percent chance of snow predicted through Wednesday of next week statewide.
