3-8" new snow at N. Idaho ski areas; sunny skies forecast Friday

Summary

The storm delivered at Silver Mountain with 8" of new Thursday and 1" overnight for a total of 9" for your powder and sunshine day on Friday! Lookout got 4-6" of new, and Schweitzer 2-3". Sunshine and powder for N. Idaho today! Brundage got 1" and sunshine today. Bogus and Sun Valley will have spring conditions with sunshine and temps in the 40s.

Short Term Forecast

Should be a fantastic day of skiing on Friday in N. Idaho with the new snow and sunshine. It will be breezy on the back end of the storm front. High temperatures will range from 32 at Schweitzer today, 37 degrees this afternoon at Silver and 42 at Lookout. 

Another cold front will blow through N. Idaho on Saturday, cooling things down and bringing light amounts of snow, 1-3". And then we'll have sunshine Sunday to finish out the season at Schweitzer. Silver and Lookout will be reopening next weekend.

Brundage will have a slight cushion of new snow from 1" yesterday, and a high temperature of 36 degrees. The cold front coming Saturday will cool things down to 28 degrees and bring maybe 1/2" of snow, then sunshine returns on Sunday, the last day of the season, with a high temp of 32 degrees. 

Sun Valley and Bogus Basin will have legit spring skiing/riding on Friday through the weekend. Today will be the warmest day of the three with a high temp of 49 at Bogus, and 41 at Sun Valley. Bogus will cool down to 39 on Saturday and 40 on Sunday. Sun Valley will drop to 37 degrees on Saturday, and 34 degrees on Sunday to finish out the ski season. 

 

Extended Forecast

Could be some light snow coming next week for those resorts re-opening next weekend to finish out the ski season. 

Announcements

The skiing/riding season is winding down as spring sets in. See planned closing dates at Idaho ski areas below. This is the last week of operation for most resorts still open. Closing dates are subject to change depending on snow conditions.

Spring season pass sales are under way, so check on the best pricing at your ski resort of choice. In addition, before you go, check on the availability of day tickets online. Limited numbers are available. Plan ahead.

Here's a report that aired March 30 from KIVI-TV Channel 6 looking back at this year's ski season with officials from Bogus Basin, Tamarack and Brundage.  

Lookout Pass is operating daily through this weekend. Lookout will close Tuesday-Thursday next week, then reopen for Friday-Sunday, 4/16-18. Closing date is April 18.

Schweitzer Mountain is operating 7 days a week. Purchase tickets online here. Closing date is April 11. 

Silver Mountain is operating daily through this weekend. Day tickets are available. Purchase online here. Silver will be closed next week during the week, and reopen for Saturday-Sunday to close out the season. Closing date is April 18. 

Sun Valley is operating daily. Dollar Mountain is closed. Bald Mountain closes on April 11. 

Brundage Mountain is operating seven days a week from 9 am - 4 pm. Day Tickets are available for online purchase only. Advanced purchase is highly recommended. Closing date is April 11.   

Bogus Basin is open daily, from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Night skiing is closed. Day tickets are available and must be purchased in advance online. Car-pooling is encouraged. Closing date is April 11. Bogus announced that it will re-open for a bonus weekend on April 17-18 for all 2020-21 season pass holders, which it's a night pass, week-day pass, full season pass, whatever.   

Tamarack Resort is closed for the season. Tamarack is re-opening to Boundless Pass holders ONLY on Saturday, April 10 for a bonus day! 

Pomerelle Mountain is closed for the season.

Magic Mountain is closed for the season.    

Pebble Creek is closed for the season.     

Soldier Mountain has closed for the season. 

Bald Mountain has closed for the season.  

Kelly Canyon has closed for the season.
