10 Inches of Fresh Snow, Dry Pattern Ahead...

Update

Storm Recap:

The storm that moved through Sunday and Sunday night performed pretty much as expected, but we came in on the low end of the forecast as the storm hit hardest to the north near Tahoe.

The forecast was for 8-12 inches at the base and 12-16 inches on the mountain.  This morning the report is 8 inches at the base and 10 inches on the upper mountain.

It's a cold morning and the winds have died down.  Several inches of drier snow fell overnight, so it should be a fun powder day.

The total for the week is now at 4-6 feet, and 8-11 feet for January!

The Forecast:

Clearing skies Monday with the sun coming out.  Highs only in the 20's on the mountain with lighter winds.

Tuesday through the weekend we have dry weather as high pressure builds in over the West Coast bringing a prolonged dry period.  We start cold Tuesday with highs in the 30's and gusty east winds up to 50 mph up top.  Then we warm into the 40's through the weekend with plenty of sun.

Long-Range:

The dry pattern looks like it will last through the end of the month.  There are still signs on the long-range model that the pattern could change the first week of February to a pattern that could bring back storms to California.
