Montana Snow-Riders! Easy Road Trip for an Amazing Lift-Served Alpine Adventure…

Update

Banff/Sunshine Village is going off right now (as of May 7th) with 12" of new snow over the last 6-days along with consistently cold daytime highs and is delivering amazing winter like conditions. As of 4PM Tuesday it’s dumping once again and winter looks to stick around through Thursday with another several inches likely. Temps start to warm slightly on Friday and keep on rising throughout the weekend as the sun will dominate the skies. Sunday, a few clouds may mix in bringing a stray shower. Daily morning freezes look to provide stellar corn snow conditions from Friday all the way into early next week.

Sunshine Village’s hike-to area, “Delirium Dive” delivers the adventure (and adrenaline!) with 45-55 degree steeps in an inspiringly beautiful north facing alpine cirque (bring beacon, shovel, probe & buddy).  No beacon? - 3300 acres of mostly alpine terrain awaits offering 12 lifts (mostly high-speed quads) with a base elevation of over 7000’. Yes, all lifts are open with over 90% of the runs in great shape. The experience can only be described as Big Sky meets the French Alps!

Open daily through Monday, May 20th, Sunshine closes out their season with the world famous Slush Cup pond skim. Check out www.skibanff.com for discounted Spring Passes and info on the many end of season events. Another bonus, a strong US Dollar buys $1.35 in Canadian Dollars. I can also report that the lodging is very affordable with shoulder season rates and they have an incredible natural hot-springs pool in Banff for apres ski soaking. The drive is a truly manageable (and scenic!) 4.5 hours from Whitefish, 6.5 from Missoula, and just over 8 from Bozeman. Don’t forget to bring your Passport! You won't be sorry...

After a short hike...the top of Delirium Dive and ready for the plunge!
